Việt Nam’s footwear maker Biti’s has opened an official store in the Cambodian capital city of Phnom Penh in a bid to bring high-quality Vietnamese footwear products to Cambodian consumers.
At $1.99 billion, the export value of local footwear products to the US saw a year-on-year increase of 13.9 per cent, and accounts for 35.2 per cent of Viet Nam’s total footwear export value
Vietnamese footwear exports rose 21.2 per cent against the same period
last year to more than US$5.85 billion for the first six months of the
year, the General Department of Customs reported.
Vietnamese footwear exports will enjoy zero tariff once the ASEAN
Economic Community (AEC) is established in late 2015, allowing producers
to expand their markets and access new materials.
Viet Nam continued to be the second largest exporter of footwear to
Spain in 2013, shipping 27.7 million pairs and earning 268.5 million
euros, or US$371 million.
